My Blog My Opinion My Appreciation for MJ
So I'm relaxing at my favorite escape. My perfect getaway; beautiful scenery, in the middle of nowhere. I'm surrounded by West Indians and as bongos play in the background the wind blows frivolously in my direction. I'm sipping green tea and as I casually bob my head to the upbeat tempos, I vibe on my daily Caribbean vaca!
My favorite little coffee shop on Jefferson and Thompkins (hehehehe). OK, maybe not vaca, but I love it here!
I'm listening as two of my favorite visitors discuss how Michael Jackson influenced fashion. It's going something like this......
Guy 1 Mannnn Michael Jackson was a good performer, he made good music, that's it man, that's all he did!
Guy 2 Naw man, it goes beyond that, he did more. Man he influenced Fashion, he influenced....
Guy 1 Man I wish I would see somebody walking 'round here in that leather jacket
Guy 2 Or what about studded belts, or studs on their t-shirts
Guy 1 Yeah man I hope I see that, ain't nobody doing that
Guy 2 What are you talking about, they already doing that man! Michael Jackson was the man, the glittery socks, the one hand glove, man...... ok ok; Lets ask Joi, we have a stylist sitting right here, lets see what she thinks
Me Yeah I'm going to stay out of this one; I'm keeping my opinion to myself (hehehehehe)
My Opinion
Michael Jackson was that realness! He didn't care what we thought; he did him! Michael made it ok to have monkeys and tigers roaming in his backyard. He had the world singing about mice! Michael was the inspiration behind "Top Gun" and those sexy Aviators. He was the ULTIMATE shogun dazzling us in sequin, studs, and drama drama drama; clearly the world experienced a shortage during his . Oh and since when was Baby Mama drama SO fly? Usher, Chris Brown, Kanye, Omarion, and every other pop/rap/rock/r&b artist WHO? ok ok ok Now as much as we all seem to know and celebrate the extent of his musical Genius, can someone please introduce to the world his Stylist! That's a Genius that deserves 15 min of Fame.
Every aspect of Fashion today, yesterday, and especially tomorrow, has dipped its pinky in the King of Pop's cup of style! But what was the initial inspiration and was it really Michael's. Well as much as we can chop Michael's style up to a record label, the time period, a sick stylist, or whoever, for now we'll just celebrate the MAN and the biters!
